A Blogger Responsive Mobile Templates Bug

This issue has been raised on Blogger Community  last year, now the question is locked and comments is disabled. On responsive mobile templates (contempto, Notable, Empirio, Soho) links on a mobile device (android - android web view/Chrome) do not work. On desktop is everything OK. Interestingly, on click <a> does not work, but if a visitor selects to open link in a new tab, they will be opened and displayed correctly. The person who raises this question asked that this issue may be caused by AdSense auto ad code which is implemented.  I have tried to remove all AdSense ads, then the mobile view is RESPONSIVE as normal, no problem at all. You may click any link, and it works fine. I also tried to remove all AdSense from the Layout, but instead, paste a line of Code from AdSense directly into the Template (by clicking the three verticle dots beside the theme preview and then clicking the "Edit HTML"), then the issue seems to disappear on some Android Phone, but seems on ...

My Experience with DocCash

Docstoc is an online documents sharing website, simimlar as scribd.  DocCash is Adsense revenue sharing  program of DocStoc. I registered an account two years ago, and uploaded several documents. I associated my Adsense account and set up tracking URL for docstoc. Recently I noticed that it shows up in my adsense performance reports everyday, but with 0 pageviews, N/A clicks and N/A earnings, but I check stats in docstoc, the view number is bigger than zero. So I wrote to ask the reason, and got a reply shortly, and I am told by the customer care team that my account has been deleted: Dear Valued Customer, I'm here to tell you that your Docstoc account has been deleted.  Since your account is deleted, all your information has been removed from our system. If you change your mind, please feel free to visit our website, where you can easily create a new account within seconds! Account deleted and my information removed without giving me any rea...

Youtube and Adsense

There are two kinds of 'Youtube  Partners': Youtube Partner is a Channel that gets lots of video views and lots of subscribers; while an Individual Youtube Partnership means a specific video of yours instead of  a whole Channel, which a Partner may set up banners or change channel settings restricted only  for Youtube Partner, and monetize all videos. If you are invited to link your Adsense with Youtube, and have to monetize your video one by one, then you're an Individual Youtube Partner. You can't track Adsense revenue from Youtube by Custom channel or URL channel, because when you try to add URL channel, you get an error message: "URL cannot contain a Google host." So there seem to be no way to find out if your video is making money for you or not. But, some say that "Content Host" refers to the in-video ads of Youtube, a little bit weird of course,  and if you don't have other site(s) which enabled for mobile contents, then "AdSense fo...

Adsense: You’re missing 81 opportunities to earn more!

Received a message, saying that I am missing 81 opportunities to earn money, but I can't do anything about it, since I have no control of Ad palcements in Hubpages. In the previous post I mentioned that since Hubpages launched it's own Ad program, my Adsense earning are almost dried up. Here is the message: At least 80 of the pages on Hubpages are running less than three ad units. Adding any of our top performing units (336x280, 300x250, 728x90 or 160x600) to prominent sections of your pages will substantially increase your ad impressions and overall revenue. Across the pages that we analysed, you could potentially add at least 81 units on hubpages.com. Click here to create new ad units and start earning more! This is the big problems when you're dependent on revenue sharing publishing websites which you have no right to dictate your terms. Similarly, this happened to the traditonal publishing industry, in the life circle of authors, publishers, printers, distributo...

Adsense not showing up in Chrome

I have searched for an answer, but in vain. There are many reports about Adsense ads not showing up in different browsers, in my case it's Chrome. I implement adsense code within iframe tag, but this seems not a problem, because I build an experimental pages both with and without iframe (or together in one page), Chrome displays both correctly. My website is built on Microsoft Office Live for small business, its free hosting, a lot of restrictions. for example it will append a 'defer=defer' attribute to the adsense code.

Criminal law and Google Adsense

I once posted an article to a website on a murder case happened two hundred years ago, the Google Adsense advertising was disabled by the website based on automatic content filters. I am just wondering if any criminal law cases are not allowed by Google Adsense, or just some extremely cruel or gruesome scenes are not allowed. The article then is posted here in Blogspot .

Some Adsense placement tips

Some Adsense placement tips: - Top banner above-the-fold (beside the logo) ad placement is the top earning slot. - Placing ad units in the “F pattern” helps them optimize visibility of ads. Eyetracking visualizations show that users often read Web pages in an F-shaped pattern: two horizontal stripes followed by a vertical stripe. - Showing text ads when content on the page is mostly images and image ads when content on the page is text-heavy. This helps make the page look better and improves ad visibility.

Location, location, location.

In real estate, they tell you it’s all about location. It’s not so different with internet. The meaning of location of Internet has at least three levels: physical server location; Internet service provider(ISP); and Internet Service Application Provider(ISAP). For many people, their website, FTP, or email service is the lifeblood of their day-to-day operations. Without the right hosting provider, these services can easily be disrupted due to weather, cyberattack or natural disaster. Your hosting server can be a home computer, or company intranet server, or traditional IDC, cloud computing, the physical server locations is quite different, and the service application providers are also divergent. In regard to small Adsense publishers, you can maintain your own blogs or a websites, but to my experience, it far better to write for a large revenue sharing website. Just as you open a shop in a huge shopping centre instead of a place near your neighbourhood. The former can attract f...

Adsense New Interface

I have been playing with Google Adsense New Interface for several days, sometimes I have to switch back to the old familiar interface, and I notice that in the Earnings Estimates panel the earning number has several minutes delay than the actual earnings, if you click the Performance Summary, and choose today's performance report, the earning number may be larger. The Alert panel, it's quite amusing that Google Engineer who writes the report program must be a young dad or mum who has young children, see what message it displays: "No alerts found. You can go play outside!" I will say, no! It's very dangerous outside, I prefer staying inside with the computer.

Payments

Google Adsebse offer Western Union in 23 countries. Google also offer courier service in many other countries. To receive your payments via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) is quick and easy to set up. When payments are issued, there's no need to wait for the delivery in the mail -- the funds appear in your bank account shortly after they're issued. That means if we processed a payment for you this month, your earnings would be in your bank account already. Also, EFT is good for the environment, since a check doesn't need to take a ride by sea, plane, or land to reach you. In available locations.

Shall I Update My Account to British Pound Sterling Earnings?

Local currency reports has been available for U.K. publishers for a while, it is currently optional, shall I click that button and update to pound sterling, or keep waiting until it become required in the future? There are some changes of the terms and conditions, one of these is: "The party that publishers are contracting with changes from Google Inc. to Google Ireland Limited." The payment threshold will change to pound sterling, it says in the TOS that "payment due to You is greater than £60, payments to You shall be sent by Google within approximately thirty (30) days after the end of each calendar month", About the VAT, it says: You shall pay all applicable taxes or charges imposed by any government entity in connection with Your participation in the Programme. Google will not issue any VAT refunds to You. In this post , Inside Adsense Team says: "While you may receive your payments in your local currency, all payments are being made by Google Ireland, a c...

Jack Herrick's Tips to attract visitors

Jack Herrick is the founder of wikiHow, a collaborative writing project to build the world's largest, highest quality how-to manual. wikiHow is a wiki, which means that any visitor to the site can create or edit wikiHow articles. wikiHow is currently ranked as the 100th most popular site on the web by Quantcast, and receives over 16 million unique visitors each month. Jack shared three of his favorite tips to attract visitors. Tip #1: Produce great content The first tip is obvious, but it's also the most important. The articles on wikiHow vary widely in quality. We have some of the highest quality how-tos on the net, for example How to Hard Boil an Egg, and we also have some fairly ugly, unfinished drafts we call stubs. Interestingly, the high-quality articles don't get just a little more traffic than the mediocre articles, they get hundreds of times more. When you can produce the single best page on the Internet on any given topic, people will find it and share it with the...

Tips from Ricardo Prada, a user experience researcher at Google

Tips from Ricardo Prada, a user experience researcher at Google: Tip #1: Design for the tasks that visitors complete on your site. Think about tasks on your website first and layouts second. It's tempting to want a flashy design that exercises your CSS skills, but remember that vistors come to your site with specific goals in mind, like reading your essays, or checking out your collection of sports photos. Write down the top three tasks your users might want to accomplish on your site, and design to make those tasks quick and efficient. Tip #2: Use ads as potential exit paths, not interruptions. Ads should complement your site, not distract from it. The most natural place for a user to evaluate an advertisement is after they've completed their goals on your site. Instead of interrupting your user's main tasks, try to offer ads as potential exit path for users who were probably ready to leave anyway by placing them at the end of completed tasks. Tip #3: SEO - only if it make...

Browser and Adsense targeting

Will browser affect Google Adsense targeting? Different browser may display different ads, with one more relevant, the other not? I get this idea because my Chinese language site , when I use Chrome to browse this site, I only get ads in English, but when I change to IE, the Adsense ads change to Chinese! We may say that to display Chinese ads in a Chinese website is more relevant and targeted than to display English ads in a Chinese website. I haven't tried out in Firefox and other browsers.

Will Facebook embrace Google AdSense

They have been rumor on the web that the leading Search Company Google has been working inside Facebook . There have been reports that the Search Company has been busy filling ad inventory on Facebook site and according to the reports things have been going well. Will Facebook embrace Facebook AdSense? The Google advertising works inside Facebook is not a joke, it is real and reports have been confirmed. http://hubpages.com/_16407gp4e44j1/hub/Google-and-Facebook-marriage

Monetize your domain names

When I think of a good domain, and type "something dot com" in the browser address bar, then a page comes up which is full of related searches, sponsored links, or popular categories, or a sentence such as "This domain may be for sale", many of those pages are similar. I may click a link if I am interested or just leave it, but I never know the domain owner has already made money from my clicks till Google announced Adsense will allow publishers monetize their domains. Adsense allows publishers to earn revenue through ads placed on undeveloped domains. With AdSense for domains, users can find relevant information rather than see empty pages or "page not found" errors. Adsense currently present ads, links, and search results on the pages, and may add other useful information in the future. This is a good new for all. It seems to change my view forever, and I won't think it's wasting money to buy domain name any more.

URL cannot contain a Google host

Google just opened up Knol to the public. Knol is also serving up AdSense advertising on the site. Authors on Knol can enter their AdSense data into Knol, and will get the regular AdSense payout for every click on an ad. This seems like a smart way to reward users who write the best (or most popular) content, while still making money for Google, because the cut Google already takes from the advertising through AdSense anyway. Currently, I don't know how may we track ads performance on knol, I tried to add an URL channel, and got error message: "http://knol.google.com/k/-/k3-searching-tv-programs-using-teletext/2p3t2lhf3x6sj/6#" at line 1 invalid: URL cannot contain a Google host. Has anybody any idea of how to do it?

What is a MFA site?

MFA stands for Made for Adsense. Basically, MFA sites are sites which litter their whole website with lots of Adsense ads & other ads with very little content or sometimes none at all and then create Adwords campaign such that they can appear on the 1st few pages of Google's search results pages (SERPs).
